The leading Honda dealer in Austin TX, Howdy Honda, is very excited about all the buzz surrounding the new 2013 Honda Accord Coupe Concept. The 2013 Honda Accord Coupe Concept was revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show and has a lot of Honda fans enthusiastic with the new generation of the Honda Accord.

American Honda’s Executive VP of Sales, John Mendel, praised the new 2013 Accord Coupe Concept saying that, “Marking the 30th anniversary of U.S. production, this new ninth-generation Accord will raise the bar again through a tour de force of new Honda powertrain and safety technologies, geared to ensure that Honda and the Accord continue to lead in fuel economy, safety and fun-to-drive performance.”

As of recent, competitors of the Accord in their segment have been equipping more fuel efficient engines to meet evolving consumer preferences. The Honda Accord has done that too, but still has the 2.4L four-cylinder engine standard. It has some serious zip to it generating 181 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. For those who still want more power, don’t fret, the 2013 Accord will come with a 3.5L V6  option. Also of note, for the first time in Accord history, drivers will get to experience a six-speed manual transmission, which will aid in bolstering efficiency itself.

Another first for the Accord, that will be present for the sedan model only, is the option for a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This limited powertrain is features a 2.0L i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder and a 120 kW electric motor, which is fixed to a six kW/hr lithium-ion battery. Running on the Hybrid powertrain alone, the 2013 Accord Plug-In Hybrid can travel up to 10-15 miles  with a top speed of 62 miles per hour. Not bad for a back up powertrain! Expect more details to be released once we get closer to the release date later this year.
