“Sales popularity also was one of the factors that pushed it to the win”, said Ron Cogan, publisher of the Green Car Journal, which created the annual award that is presented at the L.A. show. “That’s because it will have more impact on energy and oil use than a ‘greener,’ but niche vehicle,” added Mr. Cogan.
